Area Agency on Aging & Independent Living
Buffalo Trace Area Development District is a state designated Area Agency
on Aging and part of a National Network on Aging under the direction of the U.S.
Administration on Aging and under the supervision of the Kentucky Department for
Aging & Independent Living. An Area Agency on Aging holds the responsibility of implementing the
Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, and charged with the responsibility of
identifying the needs of the elderly, addressing those needs as well as serving as
an advocate on behalf of all Older Americans at the local level.
The AAA is administered by the BTADD staff, advised by the Buffalo Trace
Aging Advisory Council and is operated under the supervision of the
Buffalo Trace Area
Development District Board of Directors.
The Area Agency on Aging & Independent Living is responsible for developing, implementing and administering an Area Plan on Aging.
The Area Plan is a
comprehensive delivery system of services to seniors in the Buffalo Trace five-county area; Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, and Robertson.
